Many of my photos are taken here in western Montana, but also around the world. I love being outdoors. I hike, bike, fish, hunt, ski and ALWAYS take photos. I use a Canon 7D and 5D Mark III (with a few lenses and tripods) and shoot in RAW. I process my photos into JPG with Adobe Lightroom with as few adjustments as possible.
Mule deer fawn June 2011
Took these on my hike today. On the way up a ridge, I saw this mule deer doe. Mule deer in this area don't blast off, they look at you, think about it and then move on...sometimes quickly, sometimes rather slowly. This doe moved off slowly. About an hour and a half later, I came down a different route, but crossed through the area where I had seen the doe. At one point, I looked down and realized that if I took two more steps, I would step on a very new fawn. These are the photos. At first I thought it might be dead because it was so still - not even a sign of breathing. But then I saw an eyelid blink. That was the only movement. I used a 300 mm lens, took the photos quickly and moved on down the mountain. What a beautiful sight this fawn was.Read More
